Digital Delights Design Team

Good Morning Friends,
I have some great news! I've been accepted as a design Team member for Digital Delights by Louby Loo. If you haven't seen her Super adorable images, hop on over to her site. Check out the other DT member's sites too...what a bunch of super talented ladies! (See links on the right). My card above was made using Chef Luigi...isn't he just too cute? (The image comes with "#1 Dad" on the top, but I did cut that part off, just because this is going to my step-dad...didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, ya know?) I added a little Crystal Effects to the icing...mmmm looks good enough to eat!

On a sad note, I lost my job yesterday. I'm very sad about it, but on the other hand, I need this time recover and regroup from all that's been happening in my life. I'm so grateful to have paper crafting as my never- failing outlet, and to have such wonderful friends here. I'm looking forward to spending lots of time creating, sharing and visiting your blogs!
Hugs,

What Works Wednesday #2

Welcome to What Works Wednesday #2: Cataloging 101!

When we first start out on this crazy ride, we never think that we aren't going to know what we have or remember where we placed it. In my case, the "stuff" had far exceeded the memory capacity in my brain. That's where cataloging has become my most important tool. I know what I have, what it looks like and where to find it.

Now please don't let this scare you off, it is a big project if you've already accumulated a lot of stuff, like I had, but working at it a little bit at a time gets the job done fairly painlessly, plus it's a great review of things you may not have played with in a while. The first thing I'm going to show you is the Cuttlebug section of my catalog. This is a great place to start if you have a lot of folders.
I used scrap card stock. The nice thing about this also is when you're not quite sure what you want to use on a project, just flip your catalog open and make your choice! This also helps me when I'm shopping to not buy something I already have..have you ever done that? I have, and more than once!

This is my Copic color chart. Very Very Useful! It not only serves as an inventory, but also a chart to help me make color and shading choices. You can download this chart HERE. I like this chart the best becasue I have room to make a color swatch, it gives the number and name of the marker...and...I have room to write in the Stampin' Up! color matches. Thank you so much to Sandy Hulsart for this fabulous gift!

I catalog my stamps according to what they are, but I store them by company. This is the section for sentiments. Any sentiments, from any stamp sets, or singles, go into this section. This way when I'm looking for a sentiment, I just thumb through, find the one I want and go right to it. These are all Stampin' Up! sentiments here, so it doesn't say the company, but I indicate the company for anything other than SU!.

My Stampin' Up! stamps are stored alphabetically and on their sides so that it's easy for me to grab a set without having to pull it out of a stack and risk them falling over (One of the things I tried before and didn't like). The shelving is actually CD cases that I bought at Walmart for around 20 dollars. I have 5 of them.

This is how I store my single wood mounted stamps. As you can see they are labeled by Company.

This is how I store my unmounted rubber stamps. I will get into this in a little more detail later on, because I also want to show you about storing clear polymer stamps at that time.
As you can see, my system isn't very fancy, but it is very functional and efficient. I enjoy stamping much more now, because I don't spend so much time looking for what I want. SO, what are your thoughts?? How do you organize? What works for you? Please share your experiences in the comments section...also, how did you do last week getting rid of things you don't use? I got rid of some gel pens that were dried up, some tiny bits of DP too small to do anything with, and I moved my embellishments all to one location. Yay! Progress!!!
I hope you all have a wonderful day and good luck with your organizing this week!
